A High Court judge said a 30-year litigation was over ‘an everyday dispute that could happen to any family in Ireland’
Despite winning the “numerous ... misguided and abusive” claims taken against him by his sister Elizabeth, there was no evidence that Mr Shannon ever recovered any of his legal costs from her, the judge said.Rory McIlroy files for divorce in Florida after seven years of marriageKinahan investigation: How the cartel’s Dubai properties were secretly sold off
Despite numerous judgments holding against Elizabeth Shannon in “a stream of litigation” over 30 years, she continued to maintain at the latest hearing she is entitled to the property, the judge said. Laws introduced in Ireland over several decades have resulted in a “dramatic” reduction in the number of affordable courts, including a drop of 359 per cent in the proportion of District to High Courts, he said. There are now 51 High Court judges, five times more per head than in England and Wales where there is 700 per cent more Circuit Courts than High Courts, he noted.
