Trial Justice Okon Abang remanded the Defendant in Kuje Prison shortly after he pleaded not guilty to a 17-count charge that was preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

However, the Defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge, even as he pleaded the court to grant him bail pending the hearing and conclusion of his trial. His oral request was however opposed by the prosecution counsel, Mr. Ekele Ihenacho, who insisted on a formal bail application.According to the prosecution counsel, there was need for the defendant to place material facts that would enable the trial court to exercise its discretion judicially and judiciously.
