"We were told all kinds of things, you know," recalled Fojtik. "That it could have been a vagrant or possibly somebody that used to live there." "They told me that they definitely found the person that did this," explained Hadley. "And he told me it was a 7-year-old. I just broke down crying." "Brandon didn't have an enemy," said Brandon’s aunt Laura Fontenot. "And for us to find out that the one that we thought that there was out there, it still wasn't an enemy.""I was pretty shocked knowing that a kid was the one who did it," added youngest son Bradley.

"The reason that in Texas children don't have criminal culpability until the age of 10 is just because kids at that age don't really know what they're doing," explained San Antonio attorney Joseph Hoelscher, who has no connection to the case. "They can't form the proper intent. And even if they do, we're hoping that there's something else we can do better than incarceration."to amend that law.
