The chief minister says the bill was the first step towards getting other constitutional amendments, including the rights owed to Sabah and Sarawak.

Sabah Chief Minister Shafie Apdal speaks at a press conference at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport today.

“We had a chance to put it back as one of the three , but now we’re back to being one of the 13 states,” he told reporters after returning from Kuala Lumpur at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport here today. He voiced regret over the MPs who had abstained from voting, even after the prime minister assured of a select committee to look into matters pertaining to the constitutional amendment once the bill is passed.
