Liew told reporters outside the Dewan Rakyat that despite efforts to accommodate the Opposition and the agreement by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to establish a select committee and review the implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 , it still failed to succeed. Nonetheless, Liew said he will not give up in the struggle to restore the status of Sabah and Sarawak.

“The attempt to amend the laws in relation to MA63, to legitimise the state’s position as an equal partner in the Federation, is historical in itself.
