A man who took part in a violent uprising at a western Sydney church has swung his arms and spat at journalists outside court.

The 28-year-old covered his face with a black hoodie as he left court, before tripping over uneven paving and toppling onto the ground. He also spat in the direction of one photographer before he was arrested and taken to Fairfield police station.The riot occurred after a stabbing at the Christ the Good Shepherd church in Wakeley. He has pleaded guilty to threatening violence to cause fear during a riot outside the Christ the Good Shepherd in Wakeley.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with a terrorism offence over the stabbing, which police allege was religiously motivated.
