Residents in Melbourne’s industrial suburbs are demanding a crackdown on the hazardous waste industry following an enormous blaze at a Campbellfield factory last week.

More than 50 people attended a rally on Monday night to voice their concerns for residents’ health, after the Friday fire sent thick black smoke into

the air. The blaze erupted a month after the business had been suspended for holding more than double the legal amount of hazardous chemical waste on site.
