THE proposed constitutional amendment of Article 1 must reinstate the words “the States of Malaya” and “the Borneo States” to give proper recognition to Sabah and Sarawak in accordance to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 , the Sabah Law Society said today.
Its president Brenndon Keith Soh said the amendment to restore the pre-1976 version of the constitution is significant to reflect both the historical recognition of how Malaysia was formed as well as the special status of Sabah and Sarawak in the Federation.
