A male could be clearly seen in the footage played in court, running from a vehicle which veered off Hyde Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston, Limerick City, on April 30 last, and allegedly ploughing into him.

Video footage played in court today showed a car driving at a man in an alleged hit and run linked to an alleged violent feud which gardai claimed is “ongoing” in Limerick city.

Garda Dillon alleged Mr Shannon was “actively involved in an ongoing feud” with others in Limerick, and that if Mr Shannon was granted bail “he will continue to engage in this feud”. Garda Dillon said investigating gardai have harvested “excellent quality CCTV” footage, which they alleged shows Mr Shannon driving a grey coloured Nissan Qashqai at a male on the day in question.

Garda Dillon alleged Mr Shannon drove the Qashqai “mounting a footpath in an attempt to run the male down” before colliding with the male and leaving the scene.Garda Dillon said he arrested the accused at a house on Lenihan Avenue, Limerick, at 7.40am last Thursday morning, May 2nd.
