When Justin Johnson declined to come outside April 22, the teens returned to his home Friday April 26 — when his father's work vehicle was not there.

He joined a new country, new school, and new culture. And the Jamaican teen, who worked hard with his father to earn his citizenship, wanted to be a part of it.

Justin collapsed that night after several teenagers lured Justin outside his family’s home when his father wasn’t there, ambushed him from behind their three parked cars, and chased him down a steep bank behind his house into a weeded field, Nick Johnson said. Nick Johnson revealed new details to reporters on Wednesday, offering a commitment of transparency from the family to police and the broader community about what really happened on Friday while Justin was home alone.

Finally, Justin left the home. This time, the teens hid behind their three cars until one of the car’s horns beeped. And that’s when they rushed him, according to the recordings.Nick Johnson said he and Bryan Farr are investigating the causes behind cardiomyopathy — also known as broken heart syndrome. It was listed as a contributing factor to Justin’s death, according to the coroner.
