Police say they found hand-drawn ISIS flags when they raided the 15-year-old’s bedroom after the alleged terror stabbing of a bishop in a Wakeley church.

A 15-year-old boy who described the alleged Wakeley terrorist as his mate sent messages in the days after the church stabbing about wanting “to do something so bad”, including attacking a “bunch of Jews”, a court has heard.during a live-streamed service at Christ the Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley on April 15, which was declared a terrorist incident. During a raid on his home, police say they found two hand-drawn flags of the terrorist group ISIS.

The prosecutor said the boy’s views, allegedly held since January, persisted. She said he sent messages to a person after the church incident saying, “I know the bloke who done it, he’s my mate”. She said two hand-drawn ISIS flags were found in the boy’s bedroom during a police raid on April 24, while a tomahawk and hunting knife were found in the garage. He said his client, in some of the alleged comments, was “venting” and expressing “very deranged thoughts” but was “not saying ‘I am planning an attack’, nor saying ‘I have organised ’.” Dib said the discussions were “macho-type” and “it would not be outside of the realm of possibility” that it was a 15-year-old “trying to brag … about something that he has no connection to”.“This is not, in my respectful submission, an extremely strong prosecution case,” Dib said. “There are significant inferences that need to be drawn.”
