A new law is coming into force and all cat owners must abide by it

From Saturday, June 10, it will become illegal for cat owners to not microchip their pets. Recent reports suggest 25% of cats are currently not microchipped, which is almost three million cats.

Microchipping ensures any lost or stolen cats have the best chance of being reunited with their owners as quickly as possible. The chips are implanted under your cat’s skin between the shoulder blades, in a quick procedure that takes just a few seconds. Having your cat microchipped costs around £10-30. There is no minimum age to have your cat microchipped, but it is important to get it done before your cat goes outside for the first time if you can.
