Detectives allege several Gold Coast companies defrauded more than $1.5 million from about 30 people.Harry Omeros, Vicky Omeros and Kristy Sleep will face court next month on money laundering charges.
The Financial and Cyber Crime Money Laundering Unit investigation focused on multiple companies, including Crypto Advisers Australia, Strategic Capital, Active Marketing Solutions and Alternative Capital.The number of scams reported by Australians has hit a new record high, even though the amount lost has declined.Police allege four people laundered the money through cryptocurrency, precious metals, luxury cars and real estate to hide the source of the funds.
"We've continued to see these types of matters where people, in the interests of trying to earn some quick money, are not taking the time to do due diligence," he said.
