‘My ex-husband sent our kids to Almajiri school, so I dragged him to court’

Thirty-three-year-old Jamila Abubakar, a resident of Rido, Kaduna, recently took her former husband, Isah Aliyu, to court seeking the custody of their two children he took to an Almajiri school. She said she wanted to return the kids to a primary school where they were enrolled, in addition to continuing with their Islamic education. The court granted her request. In this interview, she speaks on the role women can play in stopping the habit of sending children to Almajiri schools.
