By Washington Post Staff April 5 at 4:10 PM An attorney hired by President Trump on Friday told the Treasury Department that it should not turn over the president’s tax returns until it receives a legal opinion from the Justice Department.
William S. Consovoy, the attorney, attacked the request from Rep. Richard E. Neal , chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, as a “gross abuse of power.”

No where in the law is the IRS permitted (or required) to consult with the DOJ before releasing Trump's tax returns. The law requires the IRS to release upon request from the appropriate Committee Chair. Period.

The law is clear that Treasury must comply with Congress and does not require participation from Trump's Department of Obstruction of Justice.
Again, if an individual is running for office then they should be able to become transparent to the People meaning disclosing their tax returns. And the public should also take into account that anyone who doesn't WILLINGLY disclose their tax returns must have something to hide
