Adele Sorella testified during her trial that she had little memory of the day when her daughters were found dead

The Crown says a Quebec mother convicted in the killings of her two young daughters should spend 14 years in prison before being eligible for parole.

Prosecutor Simon Lapierre said today it’s important to denounce Adele Sorella’s crimes because they were committed against young children. On March 5, a jury found the 53-year-old guilty of two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of her daughters, Amanda, 9, and Sabrina, 8. The girls were found dead in the family home in Laval on March 31, 2009.A second-degree murder conviction carries an automatic life sentence with no possibility of parole for at least 10 years.

Sorella testified during her trial that she had little memory of the day when her daughters were found dead. And medical experts testifying for the defence said Sorella experienced a dissociative episode the day of the killings. Sorella’s lawyers are appealing her conviction, arguing the verdicts were unreasonable and not supported by the evidence.

Our justice system is pathetic.

The Muslim that kill the hockey team will get less. Oh the compassion in our justice system

2 lives are valued at 7 years each, and the 'mother' thinks that's too much- she sounds super remorseful 🙄. What's the first clue that we need to bring back the death penalty and give murderers what they really deserve.

seems low

Crown seeks third trial in Eaton Centre shooting, alleging judge made mistakesCrown attorneys are seeking a third trial for a man convicted of manslaughter in a deadly shooting at Toronto's Eaton Centre nearly seven years ago. I am not convinced that the judge who oversaw christopherhusbands's retrial in the 2012 eatoncentreshooting made such serious errors that a 3rd trial should be ordered. It appears the verdicts of manslaughter were justified given the lack of proof of an intent to kill. Who kills supposed to be killed.
