The High Court sets new trial dates after being informed that the previous dates were taken by Najib Razak’s RM42 million SRC International case.

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Najib Razak’s 1MDB trial will finally begin on May 14, with the High Court setting new dates after being informed that the previous trial dates were taken by Najib’s RM42 million SRC International case.

High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah previously fixed April 15 to May 3 to hear Najib’s 1MDB case.Proceedings will resume on June 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 20 and 21.Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib informed the court that the prosecution team had given Najib’s defence team all the relevant documents for the trial.In the 1MDB case, Najib is facing four counts of corruption in which he is alleged to have used his position to obtain gratification totalling RM2.

He was said to have received and used the illegal money during his term of office between 2011 and 2014. Najib is currently on trial for his SRC International case.
