On the first charge, Hafizul was accused of illegally possessing a Glock 19 Austria pistol under Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1971 , which provides a sentence of up to 14 years in prison and a minimum of six lashes of the cane, if convicted. For the fourth, fifth, and sixth charges, the accused was alleged to have in possession three identification cards belonging to three different individuals aged 29, 34, and 35, respectively, under Regulation 25 of the National Registration Regulations 1990.

If convicted under this section, the accused could face a minimum fine of RM5,000 and a maximum of RM20,000 or imprisonment for a minimum of one year and a maximum of five years, or both.
