Today marks the 51st anniversary of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s death. In the first 'Voices of the Movement' episode with CapehartJ, civil rights leaders who were close to King share their stories of that day:

The veterans of the civil rights movement made history, but they are eager for you to know something: They didn’t set out to be heroes or icons. On two occasions this year, these brave men and women gathered to reflect on their experiences and the legacy they're leaving — for people like me who benefited from their courage and for the kids growing up in today’s shifting world.

Some of them are names you know, some aren’t — but all of them have stories that need to be told while they're still here to tell them. This audio series from the “Cape Up” podcast brings you the stories and reflections of some of these leaders, and their lessons on where we go from here.

CapehartJ Dr. King never never Ascended to the King/Priest Anointing but it was there....he only had the knowledge of the square the builders built.

CapehartJ King knew when he was going to Memphis, he was going to his death, former ambassador Andrew Young tells CapehartJ. Young was at the bottom of the motel steps waiting for King to come down when the shot rang out:

CapehartJ That's great

CapehartJ And still today no one has learned anything. Still the hate the violence the division and no it’s not by white Americans but by the black activist and black democrats see they need division so they can keep making money: leader of BLM? Millionaire Ivy League graduate

CapehartJ Additionaly, if you want to hear from MLK's own words the letter from birmingham jail is a good place to start.
