Sky News takes you through the need-to-know highlights as parliament races to pass a new law before next week's EU summit.

Peers will today try to race through a proposed law through parliament to avoid a no-deal Brexit next week., the bill will be scrutinised by the House of Lords today and could come into effect as early as Monday.

If passed today by the Lords, it would force Mrs May to ask the EU to delay Brexit for a second time, unless a deal is passed before the formal deadline she has to ask for one - next Wednesday. But it will be front and centre of political focus in Westminster today as peers take the highly unusual step of trying to pass a whole new law in one day.

The first reading stage kicks off at 11.30am, before a vote on suspending parliamentary rules that all the following ones cannot be in the same day.

...and EU does not extend, which means automatically Revoke Article 50...result? At least with No Deal off table we can all sigh with relief. And we can all get back to work, including MPs.

The rich people are gonna stop brexit. Bunch of representatives who have paid to be in the position they are.

Battle of the century - dislike of rushed legislation and average Peter's dislike of Brexit in first place.

It should be voided According to Mr Fabricant, the Peterborough MP was wearing an electronic ankle tag in the Commons.

Given they’re pretty much wall to wall Remain, should take all of 30s !

I think you've rather answered your own question there. If the Lords follow the Commons in indulging the fantasy that this is a bill the 5 stages of passing a bill can only occur on 5 seperate days. Meaning it can't even go before the Lords until Tuesday (9/4/19).

Amazing how fixed the establishment is normally it would take weeks but because vested interests are involved nope next day Social Media is exposing thing our mainstream media choses to cover up

A once great nation on its knees and the people of the UK are doing what they do best - have a right food fcuking moan instead of call the Gov to answer! If it were France the people would be on the streets - but instead they choose to moan and they wonder why nothing is done!

Here comes the civil war what our government caused, police wouldn't stand a chance but I know jeremycorbyn needs to quit & so does theresa_may infact a whole new government & abolish the unelected lords.

Corrupt bunch of nobodies

Wouldn't it be great if they threw it out.

Oh blimey! Elected MPs screw everything up and we now hand the mess to a load of unelected people. Wonderful.

It’ll go through faster than skitters through a sieve 🤷🏻‍♂️

No deal is brexit

Brexit round trip by downing street will come to a climax when next elections r called 17.4 million Brexit voters, i one of them are patiently waiting for this current crop of MP's yell for votes If Brexit is not delivered in it's entirety, they better come up a good excuse.

The house of lords should refuse this bill purely becouse an incarserated mp has been allowed to vote this is void

Everything being done to ensure we remain.

Lets have another vote as they didnt know what they were voting for and the majority was a lot less than at the referendum so result should be overturned 🧐

🤔Oh let me think 🤔 Wonder What the result will be....😏

They already know the answer, we all do

They are abandoning all the rules they themselves have put in place to prevent laws being passed when they shouldn't be. And all for their own interests, Absolutely disgraceful!

How.....could it possibly be because it's a stitch up 🤔

Ffs the majority of the house of Lords are in no fit state to make such a major decision. In fact its time to get rid of them.

They are playing with fire 10000 cops verses million no contest lol if they went for it they would be smashed lol as for army most are leavers if you talk to lads ex vet here theywont turn on people as ex vets wouldsort it lol gtow up

Quick reminder, the public see you MPs, they see what you are doing.

Of course it will. They receive millions a year from the EU in land farming ubsidiaries. The Gravy train will keep running.

Philip Hammond can only pay £5996 in tax on his company's £1.6 BILLION profits. Same as someone who earns £42k a year. The Tories look after us. Don't they?

If it’s to stitch up the vote I expect they will CROOKS BANDITS KARMA
