Alfie died after being stabbed in Horsforth on November 7 last year. Leeds Crown Court has previously heard how the 15-year-old was "attacked" as he went to meet his friends from school.
The girl said about the incident: " was saying, 'fight me' and said he didn't want to fight...They started fighting and I made aware if he hit my brother too hard I'd be pulling him off him... then got him in his face and he stumbled and didn't want to fight anymore so I pushed and he hit me in the face and Alfie pushed him and said, 'Why are you hitting a girl?'
She said: "Alfie ran and went back and stole the fireworks off him. I went, 'So you just robbed his fireworks?' And he said, 'Yeah, yeah he shouldn't have thrown one at me, if he hadn't done that I wouldn't have done anything or taken his fireworks off him.'"When speaking about November 7 and the stabbing, the girl told officers she was leaving school and was made aware something was happening when she saw a teacher "spring" past her.
A friend of the defendant's also gave evidence and said he had gone into Leeds city centre on Halloween to meet him, but he was "15-20 minutes late." He said the defendant had a JD bag with fireworks in it, and as they walked through Hyde Park saw a group of people, which included someone he had seen "hanging around with Alfie Lewis."
