The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) has ruled that some women born in the 1950s were insufficiently informed about the changes, including 335,000 in Scotland

Scottish minister Humza Yousaf has voiced his support for the Women Against State Pension Inequality campaign, urging both Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer to be "on the right side of history" regarding compensation for changes to the State Pension age. Urgent calls for justice continue to be expressed by WASPI women affected by these alterations, especially as a proposed compensation bill's second reading has been pushed back to May 17.

After a WASPI-led demonstration outside Holyrood, the First Minister declared: "Westminster's continued refusal to provide compensation to women affected by this national scandal for years has been a shocking dereliction of duty. It is abundantly clear that after years of inaction, WASPI women must get the justice, apology and compensation they deserve."

Mr Yousaf, in a letter to the Prime Minister, called on the UK Government to become "part of the solution, rather than the problem". He also asked Labour leader Sir Keir to uphold the party's previous manifesto promise to identify the "injustice" and construct a compensation scheme. She claimed: "Whilst I am thankful that the long-awaited Ombudsman report has been published, and that it has shown, without doubt, that we experienced maladministration at the hands of the UK Government, I am extremely disappointed in the suggested level of compensation."
