An Irishman living in the USA has been selected as the foreman for the jury in the criminal trial involving former US President, Donald Trump, in New York.

.In his spare time he likes doing "anything outdoorsy", he told the court.According to ABC News, when the man was asked if he was aware of the other criminal trials concerning Donald Trump he replied "I've heard of some of them". Of the seven people selected on Tuesday, four are male and three are female. Five of the seven have a university degree or higher, according to CNN.

After swearing the seven jurors in on Tuesday, Judge Mercan indicated that he hopes to complete the jury selection process by the end of the week with opening statements taking place as soon as Monday April 22.
