Supreme Court affirms capital punishment despite risks of pain.

"The Eighth Amendment does not guarantee a prisoner a painless death," Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote for the majority in the death row appeal by Missouri convict Russell Bucklew. The amendment prohibits the infliction of "cruel and unusual punishments."Bucklew, 50, suffers from a rare condition known as cavernous hemangioma, which causes blood-filled tumors to grow on his head, face, neck and mouth.

Gorsuch said unconstitutional punishments are those that "intensify the sentence of death with a 'superaddition' of 'terror, pain, or disgrace.'" He ruled that Missouri's plan to execute Bucklew with pentobarbital would not.joined the majority opinion.Bucklew was convicted in the 1996 kidnapping and rape of his ex-girlfriend; murder of her boyfriend; and shootout with police.

"The question is not … whether a punishment is deliberately inflicted to cause unnecessary pain, but rather whether we would today consider the punishment to cause excessive suffering," Breyer said.

Pain, then death is the main idea!!!!

Eye for a eye

The judicial system punishes criminal behavior, if you don't want punishment, don't commit crimes.

Good. We shouldn't be having this debate every year. There is pure evil in the world and it should be dealt with swiftly not 10 or 20 years down the road. That's cruel and unusual.

Funny how you’re not nearly as concerned about pain for the babies being aborted

The sculpture is called 'The child that was never born.'

Why not just shoot 'em in the head and charge them for the bullet...Public hangings. Hell, those always drew a crowd. Admission $ maybe? Guillotine gets undeserved credit (trivia).

Oh well. Don’t KILL/MURDER ANYONE if you don’t want PAIN! SorryNotSorry

The pain of the victim and their families I assure you is FAR greater.

Supreme Court Halts Execution, Ruling Inmate Entitled to Buddhist ClericThe Supreme Court blocked Texas from executing a Buddhist inmate Thursday, saying that the condemned man was entitled to a spiritual adviser in the death chamber just as Christian prisoners may request a chaplain’s presence. Uh respect the beliefs of the murderer? USA you are going backwards... How can an Atheist prisoner do this ? If religious prisoners can have execution's delayed, then why not atheist ! Let him have any spiritual advisor he wants as long as you pull the trigger. That is now a tactic to delay execution (ie I want a spiritual advisor you don’t have available). Let them have whoever they want and see what delay tactic they come up with then.

For babies too 😳 A person deserves their religious leader to consult with them right before death; any religion, if at all possible Death sentence should be ended. It is barbaric and not apart of a civilized country.

The right to plastic accessories shall not be infringed. Banning bump stocks in no way restricts your right to own murder toys. It says 'right to bear arms' not 'right to bear accessories to arms' Who needs a bump stock when you have a belt loop?

2 California Supreme Court justices say the state’s death penalty system doesn’t workTwo weeks after Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a moratorium on executions, two justices on the state’s highest court called California’s death penalty “an expensive and dysfunctional system” that delivers neither justice nor timely closure. wHAT i GOT TO PEE...HOLD ON...C.I.A DIRECTOR LIL' O. 999.9 Voters specifically voted against the end of the executions. In fact, they wanted them accelerated. Newsom is acting like a dictator making decisions in opposition to the will of the people of the state. Death penalty saves money as it gives the wretched murder a quick out if offered a life sentence. Take way the death penalty and the litigation will be extended on and on. Defense lawyer's job is to reduce the penalty no matter what.
