Civil rights group, yesterday, embarked on a protest over alleged abuse of office and favouritism by the Chief Justice of Nigeria

The group members carried placards with various inscriptions such as, “CJN should resign now, stop judicial rascality, say no to nepotism, judicial accountability is a must”. They alleged that the CJN conferred undue advantages on his family members through his position as Chairman of the National Judicial Council , Chairman of the Federal Judicial Service Commission , among others.

Okwuta-Ibeku community in Umuahia North Local Council of Abia State, yesterday, trooped out to the government house in protest against the drowning of their son and an officer-cadet at Hotel Royal Damgrete’s swimming pool in Umuahia. The Chief of Army Staff , Lt.-Gen. TaoreedLagbaja, has urged the field commanders to remain committed and restore sanity in troubled areas across the country.He also told the officers to be more vigilant and circumspect as the country is in an uncertain and volatile season.
