The first day of Trump’s history-making trial in Manhattan ended with no one yet chosen to be on the panel of 12 jurors and six alternates.NEW YORK — More potential jurors were dismissed Tuesday from Donald’s Trump’s hush money case as lawyers worked for a second day to find a panel of New Yorkers to decide whether the Republican will become the first former president convicted of a crime.in Manhattan ended Monday with no one yet chosen to be on the panel of 12 jurors and six alternates.
One woman in the jury pool was let go after previously notifying the judge during Monday’s questioning that she had a trip planned around Memorial Day. A man was excused after saying he could not be impartial. The charges center on $130,000 in payments that Trump’s company made to his then-lawyer, Michael Cohen. He paid that sum on Trump’s behalf to keep from going public with her claims of a sexual encounter with Trump a decade earlier. Trump has denied the sexual encounter ever happened.
“I was paying a lawyer and marked it down as a legal expense,” he said. “That’s exactly what it was. And you get indicted over that? I should be right now in Pennsylvania, in Florida, in many other states — North Carolina, Georgia — campaigning," Trump told reporters Tuesday. Another group of more than 100 potential jurors sent to the courthouse Monday has not yet been brought into the courtroom for questioning.
