The Senate on Monday introduced legislation to overhaul the U.S. retirement system, a sign that efforts to revamp retirement-savings plans are gaining traction.
The move comes shortly after the House of Representatives on Friday introduced its own legislation on the U.S. retirement system. Analysts say a bill could be passed by Congress and signed into law this year.
Think of the Senate as English tyranny extended
Outlaw all government entities from having a Defined Benefit plan! They're impossible to accurately underwrite. Just ask the 'Oracle of Omaha'!
Hell no. Any” retirement reform” bill (‘bipartisan’ or not) that could ultimately win over conservatives and get Trumps signature will by default involve a.) workers and retirees being gratuitously f***ed over and b.) a big, bought-and-paid-for gift to the financial industry
Yeah, well that's going to be DOA in the House, because we all know what the GOP's idea of a retirement system is: starve and die.
Not a big fan of forcing beneficiaries to withdrawal if the plan is worth over 400k and the 10 year withdrawal window. Government trying to raise its revenue.
Still not dealing with the elephant in the room: Social Security.
I have both types of pension plans! My DPP helps me invest in the riskier side of my 401k plan. I believe you need both, to be confident enough to gamble with your 401k! If you lose everything in your 401k, you still have your DPP!
Keep the gov out of my money. They can FTFO.
I hate this without even knowing what it’s about.
Why have a required distribution age? Why limit the amount of money that can be contributed each year? Why tax retirement benefits at all? Let people spend their money in retirement instead of giving it to uncle sam.
Sigh. I knew that. 'Conventional American judgment rejects any suggestion that there is something radically amiss in our headlong pursuit of profit. Still there are those who can only exclaim at the unprecedented frivolity of it all.'
The Anti American GOP isn't trustworthy anymore with anything that affects the American people.
Make sure Americans get something back because the Dems give it away to foreigners. NO DEAL.
And... fparetreat19 xypnlive cfppro cfpboard have had NO ideas to introduce planning to the retirement system that blocks financialplanners from helping individuals from their 20's to 60's... Sad, krkindc... what are you making all that money for?
