IEC says its ConCourt bid about Zuma is about ensuring legal certainty

The Electoral Commission of South Africa wants the apex court to set aside the Electoral Court's decision to allow former president Jacob Zuma to contest a seat in Parliament.

The commission's court papers, which News24 has seen, asked that the Electoral Court's order to be set aside and replaced with the following:"The application for leave to appeal is dismissed." The IEC wants the court to declare Zuma ineligible to contest the elections because he was sentenced to 15 months in jail for contempt of court.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
