A Watford man has been in court over a fake pothole insurance claim made to Hertfordshire County Council.

A Watford man who submitted a fake pothole claim told officers a drug dealer may have done it in his name.

When questioned by Hertfordshire's Shared Anti-Fraud Service officers, the 53-year-old claimed not to know anything of the application. The Watford man pleaded guilty to four counts of fraud and was handed a 16 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months.
