Following the recent signing into law of the People Living With Disabilities in Nigeria Bill by President Muhammadu Buhari, Borno State governor-elect, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has been charged to domesticate the law when he assumes office on May 29.
The chairman of the Association of PLWDs in Nigeria, Borno State chapter, Ahmadu Umar, stated this yesterday in an interview with LEADERSHIP in Maiduguri, the state capital. Umar said: “We can’t freely enter the banking halls for transaction except a Good Samaritan comes to our help. For us to withdraw money from the Automated Teller Machines .
“In the employment sector, we are not given a better opportunity considering our condition and the same applies in education and other public activities. So, we are appealing to the incoming governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, to ensure the speedy implementation of this bill to address our challenges,” Umar said.
