A man wanted by police after an Oldham mum was stabbed to death while pushing her baby in a pram was already on bail for allegedly assaulting and threatening to kill her, court documents have revealed.
Despite the efforts of medics, she died in hospital. Her child was unharmed in the incident, West Yorkshire Police have said. Masum, 25, was conditionally bailed by Manchester Magistrates’ Court in November of last year. Court documents show that Masum, whose address was listed as Oldham, Greater Manchester, was charged with threatening to kill Ms Akter on November 24 and assaulting her on November 23. Both offences were alleged to have happened in Manchester.
Both West Yorkshire Police and Greater Manchester Police have since referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct watchdog over previous contact with Masum and Ms Akter. Police had confirmed they were both known to eachother.
