But an exchange on the House floor last week highlighted the challenges female politicians still face.
“I was listening to the lady talk. I don’t know that she’s read my amendment,” Rep. Bradley Bryne said on the House floor. “Practitioners in this area like myself understand exactly what it means; it actually solves the problem proposed by the lady,” he added. “Thirty years ago things were a lot different. It was not unusual to have men explain something or suggest I didn’t know what I was talking about or reading,” she said. “I’ve learned how to stand up for myself. I have developed strong coping skills for being in a male-dominated profession.”
This is the kinda shit that causes elections to be lost
Recipe for mansplaining: 1. One man at room temperature 2. Allow conversation with women to breathe 3. Wait for man to speak anything but agreement 4. Point and say mansplaining 5. Ignore whether he had anything valid to say 6. Repeat as needed
Mansplaining anyone?
Keep calling these guys on this stuff.
Wapo breaking news.. man speaks to women, women gets mad. Lol
Otherwise known as states facts. Calling it “mansplaining” it just a deflection when someone doesn’t want to discuss details.
Why wouldn’t you want your wife to make as much as you, so you could not have as much pressure to be the “primary bread winner” all the damn time? I sure would like my wife’s paycheck to be like mine. We are similarly educated etc. What’s up, men?
This was experience-ism
Welcome to equality. We all get shit on.
Crazed democrats. Wonder who is taking care of the cats.
Poor tender dear
Illustrative. “Mansplaining” is when a woman is offended that a man calls her out her bullshit.
Well she clearly didn't and doesn't understand it yet.
Was he “manspreading” and “manscaping” while he did it?
Probably because there isn’t a gender wage gap
The gender pay gap is one of the most misunderstood stats of all time.
In trucking there is mo difference in pay. We all do the the same job for the same pay, just like in 99 percent or business
You all realize you’re insane, right?
Did she finally understand it...?
‘Mansplained’ was funny the first few times. It’s old now. And, yes, men (and dogs, if they could talk) are allowed to talk about gender pay equity. SupportDialogue PartisanshipSucks Tulsi2020
So. He made her look like the doof-brain she is and this is her defense. Ok. Whatever.
This photo shows your bias and inability to objectively report on this subject
so now questioning a female is manslpaining? or constitutes an attack? this is what happens when you make ppl believe in participation trophies
There's nothing about gender pay gap data that you need a vagina (or a fake vagina) to explain.
All purpose magic word denying men the right to speak.
It's sad that she runs and cowers behind 'mansplaining' and she can't act like an adult. How did we get to this point where this type of person is a representative?
Of courae, sexism, violence, austerity and religion are the pillars of fascism.
Four people work for me, 3 men and a women. The men carry the load; work more hours, produce better products, and go the extra mile. She works M-F 9-5 and nothing more, yet she expects the same pay. I don't think so.
The 'lawmaker' who actually complained about this should immediately resign and resume her studies in the third grade. Because that's the level of maturity she's displaying.
he was condescending
All those giggling woke nitwits will be gone in 2021.
Did she learn?
I think WaPo should realize that in politics, accusations of mansplaining are pretty much all political moves. That being said, 'mansplaining' is probably not what went down here.
With way things are going Women will be paid much more than our male counterparts lol. Can’t wait!
By mansplain you mean provide factual evidence that goes against her feelings
My wife “womensplained” me to go mow the lawn.
There no such thing as genders, so how can there be gender pay inequity?
Do we need a new law? Why not let the market determine wages?
