Mr Dennis Aghanya, and his group, Anti-Corruption and Research-based Data Initiative, authored the petition that led to the suspension of the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen. In this interview with IHUOMA CHIEDOZIE, he speaks about issues surrounding the petition
I never told you anybody released any form to us. Investigation requires patience. It is a skill and if you use it very well, you will get the information. No! It is not true that many Nigerians are questioning my motive. It is just some Nigerians and such persons are either apologists of the Peoples Democratic Party or people who have personal hatred… Over 99.9 per cent of Nigerians applauded what we did because we just saved the leadership of the country. If the head of the judiciary is rotten, how can people get justice? Judiciary is a very critical aspect of leadership. What we did has helped the country. Majority of Nigerians are appreciative.
Have you read our petition? In our petition, we never mentioned those houses, we never did. The fact that eminent personalities like Prof Chidi Odinkalu talks about this matter and talks of 55 houses, foreign accounts and this and that means that they never read our petition. These things were never mentioned in our petition or in the six counts. It was only the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, in its petition to the National Judicial Council, that talked about 55 houses.
That secret behind your Petition will be unravel!!! Your petitions should not just end there continue and petition the service chiefs, the ministers etc 4 Nigerians to know u are a good petitioner. Olodo
You provided yourself to be used for this hatchet job. Your reason is selfish. Circumstances that made you agree to this despicable act is also best known to your conscience.
If he gets off he might sue you.
Definitely not this year.
We hope you have all your facts correct because the CJN may sue you back.
