Michael Collins (44) pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving causing death in Co Meath

A jury has retired to consider its verdict in the trial of a man accused of causing the death of a passenger in his car, when it crashed in Co Meath almost three years ago.

Michael Collins of St Finian’s Park Drogheda pleaded not guilty at Trim Circuit Court to dangerous driving causing the death of Jillian Thornton on May 27th 2016 at Waterside Great, Duleek. The accused man, who is defending himself, has also denied two charges of endangerment, 12 charges of dangerous driving and driving under the influence of an intoxicant on the same date.
