Ally McCoist has been blasted by an SNP MP after the Rangers legend branded new hate crime legislation as "madness".

McCoist told TalkSport: "We've got a hate bill by the way, a hate bill has been passed in the country. "He obviously can't because he'll get himself in trouble. He has implied it, everybody with two brain cells in their head knows it's madness, crazy.Bonnar, the SNP MP for Coatbridge, told the Record: "McCoist seems to have let his cheeky chappy mask slip here.

But critics have slammed SNP ministers for not including women as a characteristic entitled to protection under the law.Humza Yousaf insisted this week he was "very proud" of the new laws, saying they would help protect against a "rising tide" of hatred.
