Sky News host Rita Panahi says New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s decision to don the hijab following the Christchurch massacre was ‘well-intended, but ill-considered and ignorant’.

Fifty people were killed when an Australian-born gunman opened fire at two Christchurch mosques on March 15, prompting Ms Ardern and other high-profile women to don the hijab in solidarity with Muslim victims and their families. Ms Panahi says women in some Muslim nations are being beaten and locked up for fighting against the hijab and ‘we have a responsibility as free women in the West to stand by our subjugated sisters rather than give comfort to their oppressors’.

RitaPanahi jacindaardern Give it a rest Rita, clothing is a personal choice and as an older woman once demonised for wearing mini skirts and having short hair I find your ranting to be objectionable.

RitaPanahi jacindaardern Rita is an expert on being “ill-considered and ignorant”.

RitaPanahi jacindaardern Panahi, you wish you could be her. Not even in the ballpark.

RitaPanahi jacindaardern Most New Zealanders are capable of showing a gesture of empathy and sympathy and, at an appropriate time, support the rights of all women to be free to make their own decisions. Perhaps a closer relationship with Muslims will in time lead to better understanding on both sides.

RitaPanahi jacindaardern I wish Rita would shut the hell up and stop bitching every time a woman CHOOSES to don a headscarf. We know she was forced to wear one as a child. Maybe instead of whinging she should seek counselling for the apparent trauma it’s caused her.

RitaPanahi jacindaardern 😮🤦🏻‍♂️🤪

RitaPanahi jacindaardern But it was her choice.

RitaPanahi jacindaardern Just sick. Is the hijab a religious, political or to control women? I'm confused now NoHijabDay womenempowerment

RitaPanahi jacindaardern I don't think jacindaardern or NZ for that matter cares what Aus conservatives think. Especially when one of their parties got accepting bribes from the NRA.

RitaPanahi jacindaardern i know whom I consider ignorant and it isn't jacindaardern

RitaPanahi jacindaardern No ignorant. She did a great job'

RitaPanahi jacindaardern Rita is anti Labor so go figure. reality is... Liberal party born is HANSON many right wing extreemists come from the Liberal Party. Then they go on to fuel terrorists thinking. Best not to even vote liberal or National.

RitaPanahi jacindaardern Isn't a woman's choice what she wears?

RitaPanahi jacindaardern A symbol of submission and oppression.

RitaPanahi jacindaardern I agree.

RitaPanahi jacindaardern It was a major error.

RitaPanahi jacindaardern A very cunning stunt

RitaPanahi jacindaardern Pandering to islam....women in the middle east are abused for not wearing it..

RitaPanahi jacindaardern Indeed

RitaPanahi jacindaardern Yeah that sounds like something RitaPanahi would say. I’d suggest Rita’s response is I’ll-considered & ignorant.

RitaPanahi jacindaardern She thinks shes Mother freaking Theresa
