Are legal marijuana retail sales good for states? That depends on who you ask.

From the point of view of a cannabis user, a deficit of legal outlets in their area could mean a lot of time and effort to acquire the drug via illegal means in their state or legal means in neighboring states. Citing 2018 figures, Vittert noted that Colorado pulled in $266 million in marijuana taxes, while Washington took in $367 million and California brought in $345 million.
