Stigma and a lack of services prevented immediate help for young people in need, according to a local youth service."There's a whole range of major systemic issues that need to be addressed in Kempsey," Ms Ackerman said.She said there was no youth drop-in service for young people in Kempsey. The coordinator of the Kempsey Suicide Prevention Plan, Melissa Robinson, said that in the suicide space, everything was urgent.
"We need to look at what we can provide that will have the biggest immediate impact," Ms Robinson said. She said the town needed a space for youth to be safe, and she hoped this action plan could lead to that in the future.
