A man wanted in the UK to answer to more than 40 charges of sexually assaulting young boys has failed to convince Cape Town judges that he is being targeted because he is gay.

According to Somerset detective constable Alison Mildren in the UK‚ Tucker was identified in 1997 as being part of a paedophile ring that had allegedly exploited vulnerable boys in Bristol‚ Cardiff‚ Swansea and Caerphilly. Tucker and his co-accused were convicted in 2000 and sentenced in the Swindon Crown Court to eight years' imprisonment. But Tucker jumped bail two days before the judgment was handed down and fled to SA.

Tucker argued that under UK law‚ he should be retried on the same charges he originally stool trial for. He said the new warrant listed new charges.
