Hobart Hurricanes player Nikhil Chaudhary, 27, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in North Queensland in 2021.

Cricket Tasmania said it was unaware the Hobart Hurricanes player was facing an allegation of sexual assault dating back to 2021.The complainant has given evidence in a closed session and the trial will continue this week.

He was charged following an allegation he sexually assaulted a woman during a night out on Townsville's nightclub strip in May 2021. "She said that kissing had occurred, which was consensual, and had taken place, which was not consensual," Ms Aitken told the court.In her opening address on Monday, prosecutor Shannon Sutherland said Mr Chaudhary had taken advantage of the 20-year-old victim.
