A public defender was taken to the hospital after a defendant in court punched her in the head, knocking her to the ground during a bond hearing in Fort Lauderdale.
Assistant Public Defender Julie Chase was standing next to a female defendant at a podium Wednesday morning when a man waiting for his own bond hearing stood up, walked behind Chase and punched her with his left hand.shows Chase fall to the floor. The inmate standing next to her put her hands to her mouth and backed away.

Was the defendant a violent offender? If so why wasn't he handcuffed or had a Deputy right next to him? I watch CNN alot & like the commentary from Phil Mudd & as he has said there are just some people who just need to die. Seriously it's no different than a cow, chicken or fish.
Why were all these prisoners just sitting around with no handcuffs and free to roam? Our County Court has a separate room for prisoners, and they are handcuffed.
