'Might as well go to Blackpool for the weekend. My head is smoked'

As Jack Jermy-Doyle lay dying in the street, Jake Parkinson and Jak Fairclough ran from the scene shouting "who wants it?"

Fairclough had contacted Parkinson, informing him that he would be handing himself into police that morning - but Parkinson refused to turn himself in on a Friday, claiming that he didn't want to spend the weekend in a cell. Fairclough pleaded guilty to manslaughter at an earlier hearing in August 2023 but Parkinson denied the charge. He was found guilty on March 15 after a trial at Preston Crown Court.

Jack, who was just two weeks short of his 26th birthday, was then punched by Fairclough - falling to the ground and hitting his head on the pavement. As Jack lay, seriously injured and alone, both men ran off towards Church Street, shouting “Who wants it?”, the court heard. “I didn’t know what to do. I feel bad, but I thought I was in danger. I thought something was going to kick off.
