King Charles has issued an emotional statement supporting his daughter-in-law, Katherine, Princess of Wales, after it was confirmed on Friday evening she has been diagnosed with cancer. Charles, who is also fighting cancer, said in a statement via Buckingham Palace that he is in "closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law". Buckingham Palace said: “His Majesty is ‘so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did’.
Following their time in hospital together, HM has ‘remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks.’ Both Their Majesties ‘will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time’," the palace added. The 42 year-old Princess of Wales recorded a brief video on Wednesday in which she spoke of her shock at learning she had cancer but said having her husband, William, Prince of Wales, at her side has been a "great source of comfort".
