A man has been charged over the alleged hit-and-run crash that killed 28-year-old lawyer Mitch East last weekend.

The man has been charged with a string of driving offences, including failing to stop and assist after the crash, dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, and using a mobile phone when not permitted.Promising young lawyer Mitch East was killed in an alleged hit-run crash on Sunday morning.

East was born in New Zealand, studied at Harvard University in the US and had recently moved to Australia.A 63-year-old man has been charged over the crash that killed East. "The partners expressed heartfelt condolences to Mitch's parents, his partner and many close friends, both within and outside of Arnold Bloch Leibler," the email read.
