Prices at the Pumps - March 20, 2024 #saltwire #energymarkets #pricesatthepumps #gaspricesST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Justice Robert Stack of the Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court granted the provincial government's request Wednesday for an injunction against protesters at the Confederation Building.

"They have blocked access to the building at multiple entrances, thus preventing safe entry or exit to the building for provincial employees, who can no longer access the building to carry out their public duties," the statement of claim reads."Members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary are present at the building but cannot guarantee safe entry into the building for employees due to the defendants' actions.

An employee of the provincial government, Transportation and Infrastructure assistant deputy minister Cory Grandy, spoke at the hearing and filed an affidavit in support of the injunction, which said he attempted to go to work at the Confederation Building but protesters blocked various entrances in a concentrated effort.

Stack referenced Grandy’s testimony before he brought down the injunction, saying there was sufficient evidence to grant the injunction on an ex parte basis, which is when a decision is made by a judge without requiring all of the parties to the dispute to be present.
