Julian Assange’s legal team says they’ve received 'no indication' of a resolution to his case despite reports of a plea deal

Assange's lawyers say they have received"no indication" the US DoJ is seeking to resolve the case. Picture: Sky News Australia The developments come a month after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese revealed the Australian government was undertaking “considered discussions” in attempts to lobby for Assange’s release from prison.

If negotiations fail and Assange is convicted of the full 18 charges against him, he would face the rest of his life behind bars in a United States prison. Editors and publishers of the major world newspapers that published the reports leaked in 2010 – including The New York Times, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, Le Monde and El País – wrote an open letter in 2022 in defence of Assange.
