WASHINGTON - Conservative U.S. Supreme Court justices on Tuesday signaled skepticism toward letting the judiciary curb the contentious practice of manipulating electoral district boundaries to entrench one party in power, as the court appeared divided largely along ideological lines.

The justices last year failed to deliver a definitive ruling on the legality of partisan gerrymandering. They got another chance in the cases before them on Tuesday challenging a Republican-drawn 13-district statewide U.S. House of Representatives map in North Carolina and a single Democratic-drawn House district in Maryland.

Gerrymandering also tends to foster the election of candidates with more extreme views at the expense of moderates, according to critics, adding to U.S. political polarization. What is so hard about being fair ?

What's there to be partisan about? Aren't we supposed to have fair voting districts? This is not a trick question. The GOP are trying every way they can to stop honest, open elections because that's the only way they win. No one likes their policies of cruelty.

People we need to vote. Gerrymandering is wrong. But if everyone does vote, we can control the Gerrymandering and get the right people on SCOTUS. The GOP is to dumb to realize that Gerrymandering is also done by the Dems. It is just wrong.

Oh please,,,gerrymandering has been going on since the country started. When the Dems controlled the statehouses there was no problem with it. Like everything else, when the rules don't work for them anymore, the Democrats cry its unfair and want to change the rules.

Holding fair elections is the cornerstone of any democracy. Gerrymandering gives unfair power to the ruling parties. If one party can unjustly stack the deck in its favor, democracy dies. If the 'conservative' justices are wrestling with this then they are not fit to judge.

This should not be partisan. The fact that it is shows you exactly what Republicans think of democracy. They don’t care for it. Authoritarianism is on the rise, America is its next victim. We had a good run, but our republic may be dead sooner rather than later.

Gerrymandering = Cheating to give your team an edge. If the Supreme Court supports it, the United States is nothing more than a banana republic.

Get rid of Electoral

The Trump SCOTUS is illegitimate.

I saw what you did there...

Although I always knew nothing would be done to Trump. The US President is above the law while in office, so folks, elections matter a hell of lot more than you think. Unless he actually commits treason, he is safe from all till he is out. Something seems fishy...if there is still an ongoing legal battle about this, how can the MuellerReport be complete?
