Conservative justices suggested that the Supreme Court should not get involved in fights over the use of politics to draw congressional district lines

Washington , amid allegations of partisan gerrymandering in North Carolina and Maryland in cases that could fundamentally impact the balance of power in legislatures and Congress.

At issue is when politicians go too far in drawing lines for partisan gain, and it could be one of the most consequential cases of the court's term. The justices could, for the first time, establish a standard to decide when politicians go too far in drawing lines for partisan gain, or the court could slam the doors shut on such claims of extreme gerrymandering.

Why would we want the court to come up with a check & balance for this? It has always been left up to the States. How could the court decide which is good meandering & what is not

More gop corruption for al to see.

I thought the right of all citizens to fairly elect our government was moving in the direction of fairness, but fair is only a place to take your kids, not a constitutional right - it seems. Gawd, how I loathe these people.

and Conservative Justices just got involve by not getting involve. the drawing of some district lines defy common sense. They could setup a rational process, talk to experts... some places will keep getting35% of the votes and keep getting 65% of the seats in their Government.

I Bet They Did....Good Try

Nor should the state judges.

Jussie Smollett Guardian: 'A judge agreed at a brief court hearing on Tuesday to prosecutors’ request to dismiss the charges, the Chicago Tribune reported, and ordered the case file SEALED.' GayPrivilege or BlackPrivilege ? 🙄

So......they know that gerrymandering is messed up. They just don't want to do anything about it.

Especially with Trump appointing judges, more like Kangaroo Court than Supreme.

- 'thinking', 'thinking', 'thinking', 'thinking', 'thinking', 'thinking', 'thinking', 'thinking', 'thinking', 'thinking', 'thinking', 'thinking', 'thinking'...

Why, of course not! Then these 'conservatives' can cheat to their heart's content.

Beach friends apparently not on SCOTUS.

Who'd of thunk it. 🙄

Remember doesn't investigate or think, they just report.

Ummm ... isn't that one of the reasons they are there in the first place? 🙄

Supreme Court weighs crackdown on gerrymanderingWith Kennedy replaced on the bench by Justice Brett Kavanaugh, most experts agree new limits on gerrymandering are no more likely this time around Shame to be honest. Gerrymandering is a real problem that both parties should be concerned about dinjup27 In what world could the SCOTUS rule in favor of gerrymandering? This is likely naive - but I hold out hope that Roberts' conscience won't let him sell democracy down the river when push comes to shove.

Supreme Court won’t hear appeal from company resisting Mueller subpoenaThe foreign-owned corporation faces daily fines for not cooperating with grand jury. I don't get this either. Although I always knew nothing would be done to Trump. The US President is above the law while in office, so folks, elections matter a hell of lot more than you think. Unless he actually commits treason, he is safe from all till he is out. Something seems fishy...if there is still an ongoing legal battle about this, how can the MuellerReport be complete? A day late, a dollar short, no?

A familiar Supreme Court pattern as justices review extreme partisan gerrymanderingLiberal justices think it is a threat, and conservatives wonder whether courts have a role in policing it. Hmm. the Maryland gerrymander was done by Democrats so that one will be unconstitutional. The North Carolina gerrymander was done by Republicans so that one will be constitutional. They will be allowed eleven of ten districts. I hate this court, truly, truly hate this court. What is 'extreme gerrymandering'? Gerrymandering itself is not democracy
