The laws on copyright were last amended in 2001.It is now up to member states to approve the decision. If they do, they will have two years to implement it once it is officially published.Article 11 states that search engines and news aggregate platforms should pay to use links from news websites.
Article 13 does not include cloud storage services and there are already existing exemptions, including parody. "It's about making sure that ordinary people can upload videos and music to platforms like YouTube without being held liable for copyright - that responsibility will henceforth be transferred to the platforms," he said.
BBCWorld Who cares what the Romans do, they are on their second collapse!
BBCWorld Its not even copyright its just let's take down everything
BBCWorld This is why I have zero faith in the government anymore. The internet is ruined because of idiots.
BBCWorld It's coming back to bite you BBC.
BBCWorld So, the elected representatives of 28 sovereign nations voted by a majority to implement a law. How on earth did they slip that one past the unelected dictatorship?
BBCWorld The EU curbing freedoms. Wow, I don't believe it.
Welcome to Internet Communism!
It's simple. Stop buying and watching music and so on for a month. Watch what happens. They make millions upon millions and they are crying about it. Pathetic.
Remoaners TAKE NOTE!!!!!
Next week the EU is planning to ban the question mark.
We Wil see on Thursday if South African government wil also back th amendment of copyright law. While EU community myt struggle in terms of th new Article 13 , South Africa wil also struggle if th Fair Use doctrine is allowed n implemented.
If we don't like an EU law change, we (UK) can vote no on the proposal. If we really don't like an EU law change, we can veto the proposal. After either Brexit we have no say, but will still have to comply with EU rules when we interact. revokeArt50
BBCWorld EU CopyrightDirective
BBCWorld Article 11 will effectively shutter Twitter and Reddit in the EU and severely limit Facebook posts (no news, just cat pictures.)
Hard Brexit now
Another reason to leave?
BBCWorld
Now watch the younger, remain voters moan at the EU for stopping them from ripping off music and art which is supposed to be protected under copyright laws. brexit. LeaveEUOfficial . BrexitCentral
Look the first BBC tweet about Article13..its only about 10 hours too late..
Do gammons still not realise that these directives are voted for by 626 MEPs from all over the EU, not by Tusk, Juncker and Barnier? If there is a new directive there, it is because people in the UK, as well as Estonia want it, not because the EU top bureaucrats do. Duh!
BBCWorld It's nigh on impossible - a screen shot / snipping tool image from an existing Newspaper article to all intents and purposes looks just like any other 'image'. To apply filters will require manual effort and millions is additional platform costs. This needs a rethink.
Oh boy! Yanks have to think for themselves shock!
The optics & timing of this sadly practically censorious move are dire 🤐

Remainers best clothing.
You made your bed now lie in it
Once again the EU equally useless as Parliament.
