The incident occurred at the Amazon center on Pecan Park Road, where they both worked. The surveillance video from Amazon shows two people walking downstairs, then one person running to the right while the other falls into plastic bins. The trial lasted two days and included the prosecution playing the surveillance video.

The defense argued it was a crime of passion. The shooter asked workers about the victim's whereabouts before the incident. The shooter also shot himself but survived. Several 911 calls were made, including one from a witness
